Create a header image in an image editing application, such as Windows Paint, Adobe Photoshop or GIMP. You can create a banner from scratch, modify a photo or scale and resize your company’s logo to use as your Tumblr header image. Ensure that your header image complies with Tumblr image standards (see Resources). Save the image as JPG, GIF, BMP or PNG file. Log in to your Tumblr dashboard and open the blog you wish to modify. Click the “Customize” option in the right sidebar to open the theme for editing. Click the “Upload” button in the Header section to open a file dialog box. Browse to and click the banner image, then click “Open” to upload the image. Once the image finishes uploading, the file name appears next to the Header label in the Customize menu.
