Magic Jack, a VoIP phone system that uses the Internet to make phone calls, unfortunately only officially supports Windows and Mac OS X. If you want to use the phone through a computer running Ubuntu Linux, you can install Windows onto Ubuntu using Virtualbox, and then run Magic Jack in the Windows virtual machine, allowing you to use the device without replacing your Ubuntu operating system.
